Shama Sikander on physio: a healer's touch, and time

Sep 5, 2026 · 5 min read

Actress Shama Sikander described physiotherapy that gives the body time, explains the anatomy, and still has a healer's touch. Here is why those three things belong in the same session.

Actress Shama Sikander recently recorded a short note after a home session in Mumbai. She called Dr. Choudhary a physio with a healer's touch: someone who gives the time your body actually needs, and who talks about muscles and anatomy so clearly that the science is part of the care.

That mix is easy to sell in a caption and hard to deliver in a real session. Below is what her comments get right, and how we work that way on home visits.

The clip

Shama Sikander on time, anatomy, and a healer's touch in physiotherapy, with Dr. Choudhary.

Time is part of the treatment

She said he gives you the time that you require, and that your body requires. Those are not the same clock. A rushed session can tick the boxes on a protocol and still miss the tissue that is actually irritable.

Good physiotherapy needs unhurried assessment: how you move, what you have already tried, which loads flare the problem, and which ones you can still train. Hands-on work takes time too. So does teaching the one or two things you should practise before the next visit.

Anatomy should be explained, not treated as a mystery

Sikander noticed something many patients feel but rarely name: a physio who can talk about the body scientifically, in language you can follow. That is not showing off. It is how you leave knowing why a hip is being treated when the pain is in the knee, or why a neck stretch will not fix a desk pattern.

When the explanation is clear, you can practise the plan between sessions instead of guessing. You also know what to stop doing. That is the difference between a list of exercises and a plan.

What a healer's touch actually is

Hands-on skill matters. Palpation, joint work, and soft-tissue treatment are not extras you bolt on after a form. They are how you confirm what the assessment suggested, settle irritable tissue, and make the next movement possible.

The phrase is not magic. It is attention plus technique: one person, the full session, no assistant running the treatment while the name on the booking is someone else.

One-on-one, at home

This clip was filmed at home after a session. That is the UNBOUND model: Dr. Choudhary comes to you in Mumbai. Assessment first. Hands-on care when it helps. A plan you can follow between sessions.

If a visit is not possible, an Online Consultation is ₹2,500 (Consultation + exercise plan).

The takeaway

If you are choosing a physio, listen for the same three things Sikander named: enough time for your body, a clear scientific explanation, and hands-on care that is actually skilled. If a session is only a rushed list of exercises, it is not the same service.
